Chris Lighty- Label Executive/ Manager

Known as one of the “most powerful figures in the hip-hip industry” Lighty was an American Music Executive raised in the Bronx River Housing Projects of Bronx ,NY. Lighty came from humble beginnings to rise through the ranks in music and entertainment industry. He started out working for Russell Simmons company “Rush Management”. Eventually Lighty co-founded Violater Record label that acted as a management and marketing company. He represented clients such as 50 Cent, Nas, LL Cool J, and even served as P.Diddy Combs manager. He would later broker artist endorsement deals with companies such as AT&T, Sprite and Mountain Dew.Living up to his reputation Lighty brokered a $4.1 billion sale of rapper 50 Cent’s Vitamin Water to Coca-Cola, one of the largest brand endorsement deals in hip-hop to date; Lighty received an undisclosed sum.

In August of 2012 Lighty, at the age of 44, was found dead in his Bronx apartment from a self-inflected gunshot wound to the head. Rumors suggest that he had been involved in an argument with his wife prior to the incident. He is succeeded by his wife Veronica and daughters Dej and Tiffany Lighty.
